CSU Coordinator

Major Essential Functions:

  1. Primary responsibility for coordinating/scheduling Admissions, completing Intake Assessments, and Discharge Planning to program residents.
  2. Primary responsibility for developing individual treatment plans that address the needs of the resident’s treatment for while receiving services.
  3. Primary responsibility to ensure completion of Safety Plan completion for all individuals admitted into the program.
  4. Works with the CSU Supervisor to ensure that records meet licensure and reimbursement guidelines.
  5. Provides after-hours admission/administrative coverage as well as staff consult for CSU on a rotating basis.
  6. Supports supervisor in ensuring shift coverage.
  7. Accurately completes clinical, administrative, and other paperwork as required.
  8. Assists CSU Supervisor by developing treatment resources and planning content for group and individual treatment.
  9. Establishes and maintains a comprehensive system for referral and networking of consumer services and resource needs.
  10. Works to establish linkages between resident and naturally occurring supports in the family and community, as well as with other service providing agencies.
  11. In conjunction with the CSU Supervisor, provides general supervision of the CSU, and ensures that policies and procedures are followed.
  12. Provide positive behavior supports to residents. Responds to emergency situations that occur and appropriately involves other providers, including other program staff, agency emergency services staff, emergency medical services, and law enforcement, as needed.
  13. Assists residents, when necessary, with daily living tasks, including general facility maintenance tasks, laundry, meal preparation, and transportation.
  14.  Attends interdisciplinary, inter-agency and community-based meetings related to consumer treatment.
  15. In conjunction with the CSU Supervisor assures compliance with agency policy, client rights, confidentiality, licensure regulations and Medicaid regulations as applicable.
  16. Completes other tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor and/or other management staff.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Thorough knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques involved in the diagnosis and treatment of individuals with mental health, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders individually and in a group setting.
    • Maintains trauma-informed treatment perspective.
    • Knowledge of casework management and discharge planning practices and procedures.
    • Good diagnostic, evaluative, and crisis intervention skills.
    • Clinical competence in managing suicidal consumers.
    • Ability to function calmly in stressful situations.
    • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and with private and public agency personnel.
    • The ability to work as part of a clinical treatment team is essential.
    • Ability to work as part of a team to assist in providing administrative and clinical supervision.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Bachelors level in Human Services plus one year of experience in the human services field. Must be eligible to register as a QMHP (Qualified Mental Health Professional) with equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Master’s Level Licensed eligible/Licensure Preferred.  If licensed, staff member is responsible for submitting proof of license renewal to the Human Resources office.

Work Equipment: Telephone, PC, Fax,  AED, misc. household appliances (i.e. washer/dryer, stove, dishwasher)

Work Environment: Residential setting with normal lighting levels, temperature, air quality, ventilation and noise levels.

Work Hazards: Standard hazards associated with a mental health treatment environment.  Standard hazards associated with human service residential environment including hazards associated with problem behaviors; behaviors and hazards associated with necessary use of medical procedures. Use of universal precautions required. Use of protective equipment recommended.

Work Schedule: Schedule is initially set at five days/week between the hours of 8-5pm. However, flexibility is required in order to meet and respond to coverage needs and individual residents’ needs.  After-hours consult rotation. Regular attendance is required.

HIPAA Access Level 2:  Full read/write access to protected health information (PHI), limited to the minimum necessary, for all clients directly served or assigned, as well as all clients indirectly served through case consultation, clinical supervision, program management, or coverage requirements. Staff at Level 2 are allowed to seek out client PHI as necessary to perform their assigned duties, but are expected to exercise due precautions to limit exposure to any PHI which is outside the scope of their need to know. Utilization of information will be in accordance with HIPAA regulations regarding use limitation, disclosure and requests of PHI.
