HRCSB is seeking a qualified individual to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team as the Co-occurring Disorders Specialist. Our ACT team, in a partnership with our Permanent Supportive Housing program, will provide community based wrap around services to individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders who are in need of stable housing. The specific team role of Co-occurring Disorders Specialist, in coordination with the ACT Team Supervisor, is to serve as the ACT Team liaison in supporting clients in achieving outcomes related to substance use recovery.

An ACT specialist models, teaches and coaches individuals in the skills individuals need to live meaningful lives in the community. Skill building interventions may include budgeting, community integration, coaching on ADL’s, monitoring and accessing health and wellness resources, medication compliance, and time management.
As the Co-occurring Disorders Specialist you will link clients to community recovery supports using motivational interviewing, harm reduction and person centered support. You will ensure integration of substance use treatment with clients’ goals and treatment planning.
We are looking for applicants with knowledge of mental illness and substance use disorders; ability to work effectively individually and on a team; passion for supporting others; along with good time management. Current valid Virginia driver’s license required. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services or a related specialty. Two years of experience with SMI/SUD population required. CSAC is a plus but not required. This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits.
