Regional Mobile Crisis Clinician
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide face to face and phone contact with individuals, their primary support system, and relevant systems of care during a crisis.
- Complete a crisis assessment, crisis safety plan, and report back to the RTCSB Regional Hub the disposition at the end of the crisis assessment and service.
- Report back to the Regional Hub any mobile crisis responses provided to individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities for referral to the Region I REACH program in order to assess for additional service needs post mobile crisis response.
- Collaborate with Emergency Services when appropriate to provide coordination of care for the individual and their primary supports when appropriate.
- Assess support needs and strengths of the individual.
- Have a working knowledge of community resources and contact information for relevant systems of care, emergency, and supports.
- Create individualized service plans to help stabilize an individual in crisis, regardless of disability.
- Keep well-informed of proven practices for interventions for individuals in crisis across age and developmental span, with various needs
- Provide follow-up care for up to 72 hours post crisis contact.
- The crisis assessment and contact notes must be completed in EHR when an individual is provided crisis services. Same day contact notes must be completed for
- Assures compliance with agency policy, confidentiality, client rights, licensure regulations and Medicaid regulations as applicable. Meets agency standards for staff productivity.
- Maintain effective relationships with coworkers, consumers, and staff from other community agencies based on courtesy, compassion and respect.
- Is responsible for other duties as assigned, consistent with Board policies and procedures and with program and client needs.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
This position requires a thorough knowledge of principles, practices and methods of mental health counseling and case management; ability to work effectively with clients, co-workers and service providers from the community; knowledge of crisis intervention and emergency techniques; thorough knowledge of lifespan development and knowledge of community agencies such as school systems, social services, public health and private providers; ability to create and help implement Crisis Intervention Plans as well as Safety Plans; knowledge of and adherence to basic ethics appropriate for the helping relationship; the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; and demonstrated good judgment and creativity is a must.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelors level in Human Services plus one year of experience in the human services field or a combination of education and experience that is equivalent is required.
- QMHP (Qualified Mental Health Professional) qualifications.
Work Schedule: On call as needed. Monday through Friday, 2:00 pm-10:00 pm and Saturday/Sunday 12:00 pm-8:00 pm; Flexibility needed in event of crisis situation. Additional hours as needed to perform job requirements.
Work Location: 1241 North Main Street, Harrisonburg, Va., individuals’ homes and or other community settings.
Additional Requirements:
- Possession of a current, valid Virginia driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Favorable Background check results.
